Political decisions can be messy, and so as a business, unless they impact how we operate or our students, we tend to stay out of commenting on them. But a recent number of measures have passed, making us feel the need to address one major change in the US that we believe is here to stay: the legalization of recreational cannabis. Many states already offer legal medical marijuana, but a growing number of states are also legalizing recreational use. At the time of this blog post, 26 states and the District of Columbia have some form of legalized marijuana use with 3 more states coming on-board in the next few months—that is over HALF of the United States of America. →

It’s fairly easy to spot the iconic British Nanny, trained and wearing a uniform as distinctive as their training—they are recognizable around the globe. And while their uniform is effective in helping distinguish them from others, it is not something the American nanny has embraced over the last few decades as the professionalism of the in-home childcare industry has risen in the USA. Instead, the American nanny, often highly educated and just as dedicated as their British counterparts, has traditionally worn “play clothes”—clothing that allowed them to get down on the floor or run at the park, and they have taken a bit of heat for their “less than professional appearance” on more than one occasion. But all that is →

You’ve just had a baby—congratulations!!  And everyone wants to know when the baby was born, where, how much they weighed and what you named them. And as a new, proud parent, you want to shout your new joy from the rooftops, right? Not so fast according to Social Media Safety Experts. Turn it on. Simple, right? And I have done it so many times I can do it with my eyes closed. But on Sunday morning, I messed it up and ruined the coffee. I wasn’t even tired. Or distracted. Or rushed. It was a beautiful quiet morning. The window was open, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, I slept well, the kids were not fighting…seriously, a perfect morning. So you would think I could get the coffee make correctly.   BUT, I missed →

Whether it is the mommy wars, political issues or business competition, people seem all too willing to tear others down and far less often do we see people striving to build each other up; but I do see the building trend growing overall and it excites me. The industry of in-home childcare is no different. There is a lot of crossing of titles, blurred lines of responsibilities and confusion and misconceptions about who does what and in the process of trying to sort it out, it can get frustrating and it can sometimes get ugly. So we can be part of the problem, or we can be part of the solution. We at Newborn Care Solutions want to be just →
